Words with a specific policy meaning
Defined words such as you, your vehicle, period of cover, authorised driver, excess and territorial limits have the meaning given in the insurer-issued wording. Read those definitions before relying on any section.
Information must remain accurate
Cover is subject to the insurer accepting the driver, vehicle, intended use, licence information, claims history, convictions, modifications and policy period. Incorrect or incomplete information may affect cover, claims or policy validity.
Driver
Check the named driver, date of birth, licence and declared history.
Vehicle
Check the registration, vehicle details, ownership, use and modifications.
Cover only applies between the stated times
The policy starts and ends at the dates and times shown in the issued schedule or certificate. A completed quote or payment attempt does not by itself confirm cover. Do not drive until the policy has been issued and the details are correct.
Temporary comprehensive motor cover
Where shown in your schedule, the policy provides temporary comprehensive motor cover for the insured vehicle during the stated period. This normally includes third-party liability together with accidental-damage, fire and theft protection, subject to the excess, limits, eligibility rules and exclusions shown in your policy documents.
Your insurer
The insurer responsible for your cover is named in your policy schedule, certificate and Insurance Product Information Document.
Policy administration
CoverInstantly provides the online quote, payment and document-access journey for your temporary policy.
Situations where cover may not apply
Typical policies contain exclusions relating to unauthorised drivers, incorrect use, driving outside the policy period or territorial limits, alcohol or drugs, deliberate acts, racing, hire or reward, undeclared modifications, insecure vehicles and failure to comply with policy conditions. This list is not complete; use the insurer-issued wording.
Follow the claims instructions promptly
After an accident or incident, make the scene safe, contact emergency services where required, collect relevant details and follow the claims telephone number and reporting instructions shown in the policy documents. Do not admit liability or negotiate a settlement without the insurer's agreement.
Open claims guidanceTemporary-policy cancellation rights may be restricted
Your cancellation rights depend on whether cover has started, the duration purchased and the terms shown in your schedule and terms of business. Any applicable refund, administration charge or restriction will be explained before cancellation is completed. Short-duration policies may have limited cancellation rights once cover has begun.
How to raise a complaint
Contact the Customer Resolution Team with your name, policy number, vehicle registration and a clear description of your concern. We aim to acknowledge complaints promptly and provide a final response within the time limits set out in the complaints procedure supplied with your policy.
